Colorado Burning Can Festival

Do you like to meet new people, watch all-star athletes perform daring feats, and sample some of the best craft brews Colorado has to offer? Then, boy, do I ever have the event for you! Every year, the city of Lyons puts on a festival they like to call thr Colorado Burning Can Beer Festival. It is a celebration of Colorado's beer culture, and it goes on during Lyon's annual Outdoor Games festival! It is literally two festivals in one! What more can you ask for?

The Burning Can festival is sponsored by Oskar Blues Brewery (among others!) and they have invited 35 other breweries to bring plenty of their own craft brews for you to sample! It is like having a buffet-style beer garden! Pre-event tickets are $25, which will get you sampling like a pro! Tickets the day of the event are $30, but you can also buy VIP tickets for $35. Those VIP tickets will get you an awesome commemorative glass AND an hour of "after hours" taste testing! This fun event is taking place on Saturday June 1st from 4 pm to 7 pm. Now, what if you have little ones who can't partake in the sampling of delicious craft brews? Well, the Lyons Outdoor Games has a little bit of everything for everyone! There will be night time music almost every night, and even events for your furry friends! The Lyons Out Games has both a Canine Speed Retrieve that is open to any and all doggy competitors AND a Canine Cannonbal event! Both events are open to dogs of all shapes, sizes, and abilities (or lack thereof!) and they request that you keep your doggy on a nice short leash when not competing, and insist that you not use any abusive behavior towards your dog. How often is it that you find a festival where you get to taste some of the best craft beers that Colorado has to offer AND you get to see your dog have a blast and possibly win some prizes? This festival really does have it all!

I think that possibly my favorite part of this festival is that it mainly takes place in a campground that is RV friendly! The Burning Can festival takes place in Bohn's park, so you can reserve a spot for your RV and taste beers practically on your front porch! I am a huge opponent to drunk driving, and I just love that this festival completely negates the need to drive anywhere! You can sample awesome brews, be entertained muscially, AND watch your dog go bananas in the pond and not have to drive anywhere! It seriously does not get better than that!
