Hidden RV Gem

We all have special memories of little hidden spots that our loved ones took us to as children. Maybe some of us have even passed on the love of that special place to our children and grandchildren. These hidden gems leave an impression on us that last for a lifetime, and the memories we made there can always bring that nostalgic smile to our face. 

For me, that place is Taylor Park. My father has been taking me and all of my siblings there for over 24 years, and we have all created so many memories there. Taylor Park Reservoir has some of the best fishing in all of Colorado (the pictures below are some of my father's prize catches from his last trip there!), and the park itself has everything a person could want! The Trading Post carries all of the fishing supplies you might need, as well as lunch supplies, campfire necessities, and frozen treats! The Nugget Cafe, which is located just across the parking lot from the trading post, has some of the best down home cooking in the area. Why waste your precious vacation time cooking, when the friendly folks at The Nugget Cafe will make you a hot and hearty meal AND do the dishes?! 

Now, I am writing about Taylor Park today because I wanted to inform our wonderful customers that they recently created a 67-space, full hookup RV park on top of the tallest hill in the area! This RV park has some of the most beautiful views Colorado has to offer, AND they offer a showering station and an on-site laundromat! When you stay there, you are only minutes from fabulous fishing, miles of motorcycling and ATV paths, hiking trails for every level of hiker, and stunning views of the Sawatche Mountain Range. The park is called Colorado Dream Ranch, and their rates are surprisingly inexpensive. 

Daily Rate: $34 for 2 Adults

Weekly Rate: $203 for 2 Adults

Monthly Rate: $550 for 2 Adults

Each additional person is $5 per night, and children 6 and under are free!

The Taylor Park Marina is also putting on a couple of super fun events this summer that you might want to head up to take part in. On June 22nd, the marina will be hosting its annual Pike Derby! They will be offering cash prizes for longest Nothern Pike, largest by weight, most pike caught, and the largest trout caught in the reservoir itself. Registration for adults wishing to participate in the Derby will begin at 6 am the morning of the event. There is a registration fee for adult participants. The eligible fishing times are between 7 am and 5 pm. There will not a be registration fee for the kids division, so bring the children and grandchildren along for the fun! Also, on July 4th, the marina will be putting on a Rubber Ducky Race! Duckies will cost $5 each, and if you happen to find one making its way across the reservoir, bring it in to the marina for some great prizes!
