Spring is here, you know what that means....
Hi camping friends, Those of you who know me, know I love camping SO much I made it a huge part of my life for ten years!
Well I'm getting excited because I get to share all my places with you --Spring is in the air!
I want to share with you one of my favorite places not to far from Fort Collins for SPRING camping!
Why is it a favorite? For SO many reasons!
Well for one, like all the places that I love the most, it's not only in the beautiful outdoors of nature in a National Forest setting, which means camping CASUAL --but there are multi-faceted types of EXPLORING to do when you get there! For SPRING camping this makes for the best because there are miles n' miles of climbable boulders that get all WARMED-UP in the sunshine! Kids friggin' love exploring on the grippy rocks -and truth be told, even the most "lounging-type" ☺️ of adult can't help but venture around on them a bit too, if not just to find a secret spot for sunbathing! The elevation is not TOO high up, 🤔so it's not always cold at night (at around 8,500ft). But definitely fill your propane to be prepared with your cozy heater and wood campfires for the coldest nights -no matter what time of year you go here! Most of the campsites are nicely spread out and spacious and there are magical spots 🦉 with Aspens near a creek! Getting to the campground itself is "highway easy", and then it's effortless to get in and out of the campground too! My favorite spots are in the group sized camp-sites that anyone can use by paying a little more. It's fondly inexpensive at only $10 per night ! There are no reservations so probably take care not to show up on Friday just when the sun is going down ☀️ and all the other campers beat you to the spots, nor on the holiday weekends! Keep in mind, there are no hook-ups so this is a great place to practice your first run at dry-camping but you won't be TOO spooky-far from civilization! It's only 20 miles between Laramie Wyoming and Cheyenne --off I80 --don't miss the exit it's a haul all the way back to town to get going the other way again in lonely Big-Sky Country ☁️")! Bring any gloves or climbing shoes (I like to wear moccasins) because there's a good chance you might irresistibly be drawn to boulder hoping🐇, hiking, jumping, climbing around on those warm rocks! Or for loungers --just sunbathing! https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/mbr/recarea/?recid=22872 Google Veauwoo camping for more :-) https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=vedauwoo+images If you liked this, Ive' created a page on Facebook for us to keep in touch!
